Your chance to support the community

FUNDRAISING HAS LOOKED A LITTLE DIFFERENT SINCE THE COVID-19 OUTBREAK. WITH FEW EVENTS BEING HELD, MANY ORGANISATIONS HAVE BEEN GETTING CREATIVE WHEN IT COMES TO FUNDRAISING. THE GV HEALTH FOUNDATION IS NO EXCEPTION, WITH ITS GENEROUS COMMUNITY CONTINUING TO GIVE TO THE HEALTH SERVICE DURING THESE UNPRECEDENTED TIMES.
GV Health Foundation Director Carmel Johnson has thanked the community for its generosity, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Ms Johnson highlighted the fact that several of the Foundation’s usual face-to-face fundraising events had been cancelled this year.
The Mother’s Day Lunch, the popular Cosgrove/Dookie Hospital Auxiliary Cake Stall, Paul Archer and his battery drive, and the largest fundraiser — Triple M’s Give Me Five For Kids events — have all been cancelled or postponed.
This was reiterated by GV Health Foundation chairperson Ross McPherson.
“The COVID-19 lockdown has severely curtailed our regular fundraising events but the need is greater than ever,” he said.
Ms Johnson said the health service was currently in the midst of winding up its $229 million redevelopment, meaning new equipment was needed.
‘‘While COVID has been the focus recently, the hospital still has ongoing needs for equipment and services — particularly with the redevelopment nearing completion,’’ she said.
Mr McPherson said for this reason, the Foundation was asking for the community’s help during a time when they knew many were struggling.
“But we also know some people are less affected by the lockdown and may be in a position to dig deep; the Foundation’s tax deductibility may also make that attractive in the run-up to June 30,” he said.
Ms Johnson also took the time to thank the generous Goulburn Valley community for continuing to show its support during COVID-19.
“The Foundation would like to thank the many individuals, organisations and patients who give generously to healthcare through donations and dedicated bequests and grants,” she said.
“The help of our generous donors, corporate sponsors and partners, and our supporting organisations ensures our patients will continue to receive world-class medical and clinical care.
“This achievement would not have been possible without the support of our Goulburn Valley community.”
Ms Johnson said anyone who wished to support the Foundation could get in touch.
“By choosing to support the GV Health Foundation, you will make a difference to the lives of our patients and dedicated team,” she said.
Supporting GV Health for over 30 years
The Goulburn Valley Health Foundation is dedicated to improving the quality of life of residents across the region through supporting GV Health services.
Its key purpose is fundraising for GV Health – to assist with the provision of medical equipment and other capital needs, attract research funding and raise funds for educational opportunities.
The Foundation is supported by community groups, service clubs, hospital auxiliaries, support groups, local businesses, philanthropic organisations and trusts, volunteers and individual community members who give generously to enhance health services in the Goulburn Valley.
The Foundation is directed by Carmel Johnson and chaired by Ross McPherson, who is supported by trustees Suzanna Sheed, John McKellar, John Gaylard, Alice Tallis, Graham Hofmeyer, and more recently, Melissa Ralph.
The trustees are nominated independently and their nominations are endorsed by the GV Health board of directors.
Established in 1989, the Foundation celebrated its 30th anniversary last year.
The Foundation continues to raise much needed funds to support GV Health and the community to ensure that vital medical equipment and services are provided.
