Patients at the Wanyarra Acute Inpatient Unit will be able to spend time in the facility's new Indigenous garden.
The garden was officially opened at a special internal ceremony when Executive Director Community Care and Mental Health Joshua Freeman highlighted the fact Wanyarra meant 'place of new beginnings'.
He thanked those in attendance and particularly thanked Aboriginal Liaison Officer for Mental Health Andrew McKnight for his work selecting the plants and gardener Andrew Hawks for his work on beautifying the area.
"We know the outdoors is important for the health and wellbeing of patients," Mr Freeman said.
He said the area would ensure patients felt comfortable in a relaxing environment.
"The area forms part of the recovery here at Wanyarra," he said.
Chief Executive Matt Sharp also highlighted the importance of nature for improving health and wellbeing.
"We know the environment plays a big part in this," he said.
