The walls of the JH & Co foyer will be brought to life these school holidays with the addition of a Give Me 5 for Kids canvas painting fundraiser.
The artworks will be transformed by children showcasing their interpretation of ‘‘My Favourite Season’’ for a chance to win prizes and raise money for a regional cause.
Artist Amanda Hocking said the staff at JH & Co wanted to transform the foyer and board rooms into public gallery spaces.
‘‘We’ve had six exhibitions since local artists were first invited to use the space two years ago,’’ Mrs Hocking said.
Loving the idea of engaging unusual spaces for art, Mrs Hocking said she loved the idea of children raising funds for children in need.
She said children were invited to participate by painting a 255x255mm canvas of their favourite season, which were available to pick up from JH & Co during business hours at no cost.
‘‘The children can then choose if they would like to donate their painting for sale at the set fee of $20 with all proceeds going to Give Me 5 For Kids,’’ Mrs Hocking said.
Entrants have until this Friday to deliver an entry form for the exhibition, before paintings are due on June 29.
‘‘This leaves the children with two weeks to form their masterpieces,’’ Mrs Hocking said.
The official opening and prizes will be drawn on July 5 from 4pm at JH & Co, followed by a tea party including afternoon tea and an opening speech from a guest.
‘‘We encourage children of all ages up to 17 to participate in this great opportunity, to exhibit their own art in a public space and raise money to help sick children in the Goulburn Valley,’’ Mrs Hocking said.
Entry forms are available through the ‘My Favourite Season — Children’s Art Show Fundraiser’ event page on Facebook or at JH & Co, 10 Edward St, Shepparton.
