Shepparton’s Triple M radio station received a $500 donation from the Mooroopna Kiwanis Club for its national fundraiser Give Me 5 for Kids.

Club president Tony Nappa handed the cheque to radio station announcer Billy Bradley yesterday afternoon.

Mr Nappa said the club was extremely happy to donate to the worthy cause.

‘‘It’s great to know that the money is going towards the local community, the local hospital and especially helping the kids,’’ Mr Nappa said.

The national Give Me 5 for Kids charity began in 1994 and has since raised more than $22million for local communities across Australia.

The Mooroopna Kiwanis Club raised the money by hosting regular barbecues, helping out at local sport and organising car parking for events.

It is the second year the club has donated to the charity and hopes to continue to work with Triple M in the future.

"We are all for helping children and focus on helping ones in the local community,’’ Mr Nappa said.

Give Me 5 For Kids runs throughout June and sees funds raised for GV Health's children's ward and maternity services. See a list of events here
