Generous donation by Shepparton Youth Foyer

Children receiving chemotherapy treatment at Goulburn Valley Health received a generous boost after the Shepparton Youth Foyer donated $8000 to the ward this week.
The donation was gathered through the Foyer's recent dinner event, held at Bill & Beats in Mooroopna, and those involved excitedly presented the funds to the health service this week.
Shepparton Youth Foyer youth development officer Ruben Moresco said the event was driven by the students who worked in all areas including the kitchen, waitressing and even emceeing the event.
Event emcee Mariam Omar said they were surprised to have raised so much money through ticket sales, raffles and an auction.
Mariam, along with fellow Youth Foyer students Kiarra Watson, Shakira Liddy and Alyssa Manzone toured the facilities where children receive chemotherapy treatment at GV Health.
GV Health Child and Adolescent Unit Acting Nurse Unit Manager Paula Holland said the funds would be put toward decking out new facilities which will eventually increase the capacity to treat children with cancer.
"The procedures are changing next year and the service will get bigger," she said.
GV Health Foundation Director Carmel Johnson thanked the Shepparton Youth Foyer for its generous donation and highlighted the importance of the service.
"It is so important to have this service now in Shepparton so people don't have to travel to Melbourne (to receive treatment)," she said.
Mr Moresco said it was the third successful annual event they had held with this year seeing the highest donation raised to date.
